SONHO E TORMENTA
IVAN CASCON
ORIGINAL CONCEPT & DIrection
The urgency of reclaiming the fantasy of dreaming.
The work develops from the framework of worldviews and rituals of ancestral Afro-Amerindian societies, reverberations of colonial violence in contemporary times, chaotic and contradictory energies stemming from individual attempts to overcome structural oppression.
Delirium of a passion for discovering something still unknown, yet intuited.
To see and perceive the guts of a reality not parallel but expanded.
Each person perceives and experiences the world differently. We will not have a future without recovering the sensory and emotional cosmologies of the past.
Shadow is not everything we don’t want to be, but everything we’ve yet to become. Mainly what we once were and ceased to be.
The interrelation between the world of dreams, the imagination of reality, and human’s emotional transit between them.
The work is conceived as a performative installation. An inquiry into the dialectics of the body's presence and the perception and inhabit of spatiality. Converging on the notion of atmosphere of sensory medium that permeates environments and radiates from people.
